Shawn Allen Sutton, 35, died unexpectedly at his home on August 1, 2015. Shawn is survived by his wife, Jennifer, one son, Gavin Leon Sutton and one step son, Luke Christian. He also leaves behind his parents, Ron and Diane Sutton of Junction Texas; two brothers, Eric Sutton and wife Tina of Harker Heights Texas and Stacy Sutton of Harker Heights Texas; step brother Robert Sutton of Junction and step sister Randi Herbst and husband Charles of Junction Texas, and maternal grandmother Pat Baugh o ...
The Llano County Sheriff's office arrested a Kingsland man in connection with several fires that were on the evening of Thursday, August 13 along Hwy 71 and on a number of rural roads. Calls began coming in to 911 around 8:04pm on Thursday night, starting with a report of fire on Yeager Creek Road.

Dear Editor, We would like to express our appreciation to Chief Kevin Ratliff, Officer Lisa Sloan, and all of the Llano Police Department for the exemplary work they did in investigating and solving the burglary of our home. In less than two weeks, the suspects were arrested and some of our property was recovered.

Workers were eager to sign up for Farm and Ranch Days at LBJ Ranch Oct. 6, 7 & 8, the Food and Wine Festival Oct 24 as well as the 47th Annual Wool and Mohair Fashion Show October 27th.
The St. John Lutheran Community Association of Crabapple, Texas (Gillespie County) will hold its Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the Sunday School Building in Crabapple. Discussion of the Annual Homecoming Worship service planned for Sunday, September 27, 2015, will be an agenda item along with any new business that may come before the meeting.
The Llano Uplift Archeological Society will hold its next meeting on August 12, at 7pm at the Nightengale Archeological Center in Kingsland. Dan Prikryl, the LCRA Cultural Resources Manager, will speak about archaeological investigations the LCRA staff has conducted at LCRA's proposed Lane City Reservoir Project in Wharton County, Texas. Twenty new archaeological and historical sites were recorded and assessed in the in 2,300 acre project area in 2013.
MARBLE FALLS—Tragedy struck the annual LakeFest Drag Boat races, August 9, when Mike Fry, a talented veteran of this sport, crashed on Lake Marble Falls in his Top Alcohol Hydro boat. Details have been sparse, as friends and officials mourn his passing. Fry, of California, and in a boat called Meanstreak, left the starting line around 10:30 Sunday morning.
Commissioners unanimously voted to approve the proposed tax rate for Fiscal Year 2016, setting it at $.31620 per $100 valuation, which is just slightly below the current rate of $.31966. The rate is the effective rate, which means that it will draw the same amount in revenue at that rate as the current rate drew for Fiscal Year 2015.
