Velma Mae (Burgin) Denham left her earthly home on March 6, 2016; and is now dancing with her late husband, Joe G. Denham Jr. in heaven. She was born to Hillery M. and Lula J. Burgin on May 31, 1923 in Stringtown, Oklahoma. During her early childhood, she moved frequently, following her dad who worked in the oilfields of Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
A no-hitter is a rarity, okay? Seven in the major leagues in close to 2,500 games in 2015. A triple play was even more shy: twice it happened in ’15. What are the odds for BOTH in the SAME DAY by the SAME team? 100,000-to-one? And Llano is that team! Isn’t Hill Country Classic a proper name for the tournament, where the Jackets authored a pair of classics, Thursday, March 3. LHS 18, Ingram 1 Drew Baker will be remembered as the first man to throw a no-hitter on the diamond celebrating its 1 ...
SAN SABA—Kaymon Lange made it two triumphant Thursdays in a row, March 3, with a first in the triple jump and a second in the long jump. Not too much to get upset about in the silver lining as her 16 foot, 7-and-a-half inch effort is now her personal record. Her 33 foot, two-and-a-half in the triple is not a PR, but it did beat all comers in the Armadillo Meet. “Kaymon gets after it,” said assistant coach, Zach Duncan.
SAN SABA—The Jackets were again superb—and the girls did well, too, in a nearby story—in the Armadillo Track & Field Meet, March 3, at Mill Pond Park. The boys’ medal collection probably out-weighed a bag-full of discs and puts and maybe a javelin or two, if such an instrument were present at Texas track gatherings. “It’s nice to get wins,” said head coach Craig Slaughter, but, “our goal is to get more seconds, thirds, and fourths {for points},” in the events.

Lower Colorado River Authority They call our region Flash Flood Alley for a reason. Water here can rise quickly and cut off escape routes, tear homes from foundations, and rip up even the sturdiest of trees and send them barreling downstream. Right up front let me say that in no way am I superstitious (knock-on-wood). I am the kind of person who believes in the practical side of life. One plus one equals two and that is the way I like to live my life. No common core math for me. I don't like to propagate the idea that one place is more important than another.

Dear Editor: I would like to let the community know what a wonderful facility we have in the Llano Hospital. My 97-year-old mother received incredible care. She called the nurses her “angels”. Dr. David monitored her so closely and called me at home to keep me informed about her condition. She told me she had better care here than any other hospital she had been to. We certainly have heartfelt appreciation for Dr.

JOHNSON CITY—The visit here for a tournament, March 4-5, turned out better than the opening game on the new diamond—more on that later. Catcher Kamri Thompson threw out a runner going to third and another one attempting to steal second.
