The short and sweet September meeting of the Llano ISD school board held Monday night was focused mainly on reviewing reports which brought up some interesting statistics.
Llano continues to have a high number of special education transfers, which total around 30 this year. However, a large graduating class from 2016 offset the total number.
Crews began sidewalk repairs Monday night in downtown Llano as part of a grant to repair the area from Ford to Berry streets. Tex Toler, Llano Main Street director, said the goal of the repairs are to maintain the rustic and original look of downtown Llano. The repairs are mostly being paid for through a grant.
Located just next door at 809 Berry Street, outside of Calamity & Grace, is Llano’s newest Little Free Library. The small cabinet, painted and decorated by Brianna and Arina Desai, is sponsored by the Llano Best Western and their father Ceto Desai, is open 24 hours a day. Students and adults are invited to take a book, and or leave a book.
So just what is Little Free Library and where did it get its start?

It was the best of times and the worst of times as the Llano Youth Football and Cheer teams headed to Blanco to take on the Panthers.
In the first game of the morning, the Jacket third and fourth Grade Junior Varsity team continued their gritty play as they beat the Panthers 8-6 in a hard fought contest to remain undefeated on the season.
The Llano Junior High teams had a full slate of games for the first time as each of the teams had games at Jacket Stadium.
The seventh grade teams each fall to Lago Vista, but the eighth grade teams each won. The eighth grade A team topped Lago Vista, while the B team defeated Fredericksburg B.

The Jackets now travel to Burnet to take on the rival Bulldogs this Thursday evening.
Back to the drawing board? You wonder if any board would take the assignment. The Llano football Jackets, with such promise a few weeks ago — a better than average group with an attractive schedule, a coaching staff
and players with high energy and hope, the potential for a seven-or-eight-win season — have sunk into quicksand disguised as a gridiron.
It may not be the bottom — yet — but, for now, there’s dark at the end of the tunnel.
41-13.
Whether it’s Oklahoma vs. Texas, Harvard meets Yale, Westlake against Lake Travis, or Superman taking on Kryptonite U, there’s not a much better match in sports than a rivalry.
Friday, September 23, Llano welcomes Burnet for the 77th renewal — and resumption — of that “Journey down Highway 29.” The Jackets lead, 39-36, with one tie.
The teams last met in 2013, and the Bulldogs enter with an 11-game winning s ...
Call it a smashing success. Lampasas is not a serious rival to a Liberty Hill or Wimberley, but we’re not discussing strength of schedule here, we’re talking about the game of the moment, the hand we’re dealt.
The volleyball Jackets ripped the visitors in three straight. It seemed like an
awfully quick contest in late afternoon, almost like the girls had to get to a Homecoming ceremony or something.
“Did a great job,” said&nb ...
