This past week has been a busy one at Starry Starry Nights, the annual walkway of lights along the banks of the Llano River. On a recent night, the first visitors to the park had a little bit of an accent, not a southern draw, in fact, one that was not an American accent at all.
An oath ceremony for incoming elected officials will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at the Llano County Courthouse at 801 Ford Street in Llano. Officials will be sworn in for the coming year at the ceremony. A hefty donation to the Llano splash pad could garner someone naming rights. At Monday’s meeting, the city council approved a request from the Llano Parks Project organization to allow naming rights of the splash pad if someone donates at least $150,000 to the project. The council approved the measure with a 3-1 vote, with councilman Glenn Conner voting against it. Julie Leverett, with the parks project, told the council the project is expected to cost between $270,000 and $300,000.

How old are you now, anyway? I can’t hear you! I want you to give our Llano boys a basketball win — well, not GIVE it to ‘em.
Ray Dixon was named the lineman MVP for District 13-4A to headline several Llano selections. Named to the first team were Mason Greenwood at running back, Brent Greenwood at linebacker, Dakoda Trull at offensive lineman, Ian Fletcher at linebacker and Tyler Gann at cornerback. Named to the second team were: John Heflin-RB, Anthony Watson-WR, Hunter Roemer-DL, Blake Dillard-DE, Jaden Napolez-LB, Kyle Cooper-DB and Shane Flint-Special Teams.
Barbara E. Binion passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 in Llano at the age of 81. She was born Sept. 5, 1935 in Polk County, Arkansas to M. E. Ellison and Loda Jane (Davis). Barbara was a resident of Llano since 1996. Prior to living in Llano, she lived in Harker Heights, Texas.
