For a string of summer weeks starting four years ago, Dana Wright and Darrell Staedtler met once a week in a small music studio on the north side of the Llano River.
Staedtler, wearing his standard baseball cap as he sat in a large, swallowing, mustard yellow wingback chair, and Wright, sitting on a tiny piano bench, talked country music and life as the old songwriter told stories about luminaries such as George Strait, Patsy Cline and other famous stars.
Anyone who needs just a little bit of help with back to school shopping may turn to the Llano ISD Clothes Closet.
The Clothes Closet has clothes for all ages, from toddler to adult, and it is free for anyone to “shop.” It will be open 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, July 25, and 3-6 p.m.
As the fireworks exploded high in the sky late on July 4, Holly Gilmore of Fredonia was somewhat panicked.
Her 20-year old quarter horse, Chapa, was choking, and she struggled to get in touch with a veterinarian as the skies turned increasingly dark on the holiday night.
Gilmore’s normal veterinarian was out of town on vacation.
Over the course of five months, some in cool weather and some in very hot weather, members of the Llano Alliance for Drug Intervention (LADI) worked the concession stand at the John L. Kuykendall Arena and Event Center.
Each time they worked there was cleaning to do to make the area appropriate for serving food and drinks.
The Llano City Council approved several changes to fees for various services at Monday’s city council meeting.
A vast majority of the fees remained level. Some fees increased, while a few dropped.
At the airport, the 50x34 hangar maintenance hangar contract increased from $350 to $550. A nightly tie down fee of $5 was also added to the fee schedule.
In the animal control department, the relinquish fee was reduced from $50 to $25.

You’ll be excused if keeping up with the coaching changes in Llano is a bit difficult. My paperwork looks like a baseball scorebook when a 12-12 game is in the 15th inning.
So, no surprise that the latest move involves someone who came here for one job and then got one that wasn’t expected.
The Lady Jackets, it appears, are lucky he was available to raise his hand and be seen.

Leslie Ray Mansell passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 in Marble Falls, at the age of 76. He was born March 10, 1941 in Llano, to Robert Mansell and Hazel (Light). Leslie was a lifetime resident of Llano. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and worked offshore pipelining.
He is preceded by his parents, Robert Mansell and Hazel Mansell; brother, R.T.
Frances E. Hadaway, 86 of Temple passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at her residence.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 21, at Crotty Funeral Home with her grandson Christopher Webb officiating.
Frances was born on Jan. 23, 1931 in Las Vegas, NM. She married Preston Othel Hadaway on Sept.
Wendel Ray Bickett Sr. went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2017 at the age of 64. He was born in Morton, on July 22, 1952. He is proceeded in death by his father, mother and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie; his five children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was loved by all who knew him & will be terribly missed.
Visitation was held Tuesday, July 18, from 1-3 p.m.
