The lake was drained in order to remove sand from it. After an environmental study was done in order to allow the city to drain the lake and have sand removed, endangered mussels were discovered and had to be moved before that was allowed to take place.

The Llano City Council on Monday granted approval to the Llano Junior Livestock Show Association to look at closing in the concession area of the arena and making it climate controlled. The LJLSA would also like to add a storage building to the site.
The only cost to the city would be if it agreed to pay half of a larger storage building, where one side would house LJLSA equipment and the other half would house city equipment.

“I’m really excited,” said head coach Matt Green, who also insisted about his first campaign in Llano: “What a great year.” Indeed.
