December 27, 2017 Issue
It is hard to believe but 2017 is nearly history, and it was one for the history books in Llano, Texas. In 2017, Llano elected its first woman to be mayor, a historic bond issue repairing all the roads in the city limit was passed, as well as a bond allowing liquor by the drink in bars and restaurants.
Turmoil with the Llano Police Department was the top story locally in 2017.
LPD Officer Grant Harden was indicted by a Llano County Grand Jury in December on six counts - three felony and three misdemeanor. He was indicted on two counts of tampering with evidence and one count of tampering with a governmental record, said District Attorney Sonny McAfee earlier this month.
The Llano County Republican Party chairman, precinct chairs, candidates running for office in 2018 election and supporters gathered at the Kingsland Library on Dec. 21 for the ballot position drawing. Candidates or a designated persons drew for position based on high card.
The 2018 Llano County Primary will be held on March 6 with early voting beginning Feb.
Llano County Democrats met in Llano to celebrate the holiday season as well as draw for places for their candidates on the March primary ballot. Paula D’Orsogna drew the places on the primary ballot. The Democrats do not have any candidates for county-wide offices, but have other candidates on the ballot.

LAMPASAS—A couple of interesting things about the Llano boys’ visit to the Badger campus. Neither of which has too much to do with the Jackets’ ‘never-in-doubt’ 67-38 loss.

LAMPASAS—It was a contest between two coaches who have combined to win close to 1,330 games in six decades of covering just a few feet of space from bench to floor. The elder citizen added to his total.
Mark Myers, whose 35 years as a head coach includes a couple of months in Lampasas (after 17 seasons at Cedar Park), has won “815 or 816—not sure, exactly.” That would be like living in some exclusive neighborhood and not knowing which three-story house is yours.

Dear Editor:
Beginning January 1st, retired Texas teachers will pay more and receive less health care coverage from TRS (Teacher Retirement System of Texas). Many teachers are dropping their TRS coverage and seeking other options for health care.
Last Friday morning I contacted TRS to terminate my TRS-Care. The representative told me that I would need a termination form (700B). The form was not available online. I asked her to mail the form, since I did not have a fax number.
Dear Editor,
Americans deserve to know the truth about Russia’s role in our elections However, Robert Mueller, the special counsel charged with investigating the 2016 election, has been under constant threat since his appointment. The President has said that he’s not ready to talk about firing Mueller yet.
