Work expected to start within 2 months
Paving Llano’s city streets is one step closer to reality. The city council voted Feb. 20 to award a contract to Cox Paving of Blanco to pave all of the city’s streets. Cox Paving had the low bid from five companies at just over $4.26 million. The only street that won’t be initially paved is Sandstone Street, and it will be paved after needed utility work there is finished. Dan Dalager of Cox Paving anticipates the project to start in about two months, but it could start sooner.

Those arrested and charged were: Chance Braziel, 20, for manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance. David Casarez, 35, on a parole warrant and failure to identify. Caitlyn Kaspar, Baily Jordan and Abigail Davis join Lisa Davis for a song during Open Mic Night at Fuel Coffee House on Monday night.
As the weather warms and the town gets ready for Llano Earth Art Fest, Keep Llano Beautiful will hold its spring cleanup Saturday morning. Those who are interested in helping beautify Llano at the cleanup should gather at 8 a.m. at the West Pavilion at Badu Park for trash bags and gloves and to get organized before heading out.
They come from Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Montana, Canada, Wyoming, the Philippines, Colorado, Alaska, and a few from Texas. Making their winter home in Llano, some arrive as early as October and stay as late as April. These folks become a part of our community, attending events, visiting our shops, and taking in the beauty of the Texas Hill Country. On Friday morning, the Llano Chamber of Commerce board of directors met early at the Ray House located in Robinson Park, nex ...
Llano County received a clean audit for the last fiscal year. Preston Singleton, with the firm Singleton, Clark & Company, PC, told commissioners at Monday’s meeting that the county received an unmodified opinion on its audit for Fiscal Year 2017, which ended Sept. 30. Singleton said an unmodified opinion means the audit was good and clean. “That standard wording means we didn’t have to point out any problems with the numbers as they are presented,” Singleton said. The county re ...
SAN ANGELO—First of all, this is not a primer on rugby; it is a profile of how a Llano High graduate (Class of 2016) is doing in a sport most Americans are familiar with from seeing it a few times on TV. I will tell you the players do not wear helmets in this collision activity because “your head is not used as a weapon,” according to a teammate of Luke Snitkin. Luke was a tight end for the Jackets and was a senior on the 2015 team, the last one to win a playoff game for the school. ...
BLANCO—I guess as beginnings go it was okay. You know, first time whirl or something like that. To be honest here, and shouldn’t we be honest everywhere, it wasn’t her first time in varsity competition, but it was her first time on a varsity track. Anna Casey, an eighth grader under a year ago, “is a true machine,” according to Lady Jackets’ head coach, Amy Withrow. She won two races and was second (gee, what happened?) in a third at the Blanco Relays, February 22, to lead a fin ...

Dear Editor, We all know when hunting season is around, there will always be feed bags blown out of forgetful hunters truck beds or even our own land owners at times.  But 29 at 71 headed toward Mason is a mess with trash. When will the county actually help clean the country side? We do pick up around our subdivision at 401, but it’s embarrassing to see all the trash sitting there, some since before Christmas. Also the house trailer sitting inside Llano County on 71, has been there f ...
Dear Editor, With regard to the seemingly interminable disparagement of Robert E. Lee by Mr. Dunson, a quote from Shakespeare comes readily to mind: “Methinks thou doth protest too much.” Jerry Crabtree Llano
