The champion has his portable throne! Teammates, L-R: Reigh Neudorf, Tyler Gann, Ray Dixon, Nolan Keller (barely), Luis Coronado, Quint Pincelli, and Ian Fletcher’s face tells the whole story. Dakoda deserved to be carried. He did the heavy lifting all day in Abilene.
The Llano County Commissioners took up cattle guard sizes and other associated issues at Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting.
They spent more than an hour discussing cattle guards and what issues would need to be agreed to in order to adopt a standard cattle guard policy.
The issue came to the forefront when a Precinct 1 landowner wanted to have a larger than standard cattle guard installed on a county road to keep exotic animals inside fencing.
The commissioners discussed a policy d ...
Our ancestors dressed in a different way than we do today, at least the women did, and some of it looked to be pretty warm for humid central Texas.
This was a day out for the ladies, put on by Virginia Walker and led by the Texas Victorian Lady, J’Nean Henderson, with special model escort, the suave and debonair Jack Walker.
Llano is such an underdog school in this district, and it’s likely things will be similar in the new one. However, I admire the way our coaches work so hard to keep our program going. We all fight tooth and nail for a “chance!”
Potentially, two of our teams will secure the coveted “Wild Card” qualification to regionals.
Fifty people participated in the March for Our Lives movement on Saturday at noon in Llano.
The group, led by five high school girls, marched from the Llano Library to the courthouse square and around it. The group stopped in front of U.S. Congressman Mike Conaway’s office to chant slogans like, “No more gun violence” and “Gun reform now.”
An 8-year old boy, riding on his bike, saw the marchers.
ABILENE—En route to one of the greatest performances in Texas High School Powerlifting Association history, Dakoda Trull made a rare mistake, akin to Justin Verlander throwing a hanging curve in a 2-2 game in the ninth inning. Dakoda turned an absolute rout into a root
canal. The unbelievable, almost unthinkable, though, did not happen, and this teenage mountain man, this Paul Bunyan of the indoors, went on to capture the state championship
in the 275-pound class of Class 4A.

Dear Editor,
I wanted to comment on all of the litter on the roadsides? When did it become OK to litter? I notice so much trash now days, including many soft drink containers and plastic bags. Isn’t it against the law to litter?
When I was growing up in the 1960s and ‘70s, there was a Keep America Beautiful campaign. My parents taught me to not litter.
Dear Editor,
We deserve to know the truth about Russia’s role in electing Donald Trump. However, Robert Mueller, special counsel charged with investigating the 2016 election, has been under constant threat by the President since his appointment. The House Committee stopped its investigation because it had no criminal jurisdiction per Rep.
Dear Editor,
Justice is a balancing, a fairness. It balances the needs and rights of a society. Society has many subsets: gender, age, occupation, marital status, ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, economic status, education, and even hobbies and past times. Justice must apply to all of these subsets, showing fairness across and among these groups.
Each of us belongs to most of these subsets, and through them we partake of justice.
Dear Editor,
Last month we sent a letter to the editor on 29 being littered with various items, feed bags, beer boxes.... Nothing has changed, except now you can get your own dumped television on the side of the road.
I have seen another opinion about people adopting the roads for trash like this (besides the house trailer...), which I like that idea! I have seen this be successful in other counties. I’m sure some of our local leaders, homeowners, churches, land owners, large and ...
