Llano Independent School District held ceremonies at Llano Junior High School and Llano High School on Thursday and Friday nights.
At the Junior high School, 135 8th grade students walked the stage on Thursday night as they received their promotion to 9th grade and on to Llano High School.
“We don’t call this graduation because you have four more years to go, this is a promotion and we hope you all finish your high school career,” said Principal Todd Keele.
An overflow crowd watched Llano Christian Academy’s second graduating class receive their diplomas last Thursday.
Amanda Schmidt and Tristan Najar became the second and third graduates of the school in the hour-long ceremony at LCA’s first-year home on Green Street.
Najar started school at LCA in 2011, the first year of its existence.

The Llano ISD board of trustees passed added security measures for Llano High School at last Thursday’s meeting.
There has been much discussion as to what to do to make schools safer for students and faculty after many shootings or incidents throughout the country. The first line of defense is to control admittance to the campuses, and the board passed a proposal to install a security storefront at the high school.

Nominations are being sought for the Llano High School Hall of Fame.
The first Llano High School Hall of Fame class was announced in 2002 and a hall of fame class has been announced yearly since then. There are three categories for the hall of fame - individuals, team and humanitarian.
Criteria for the individual award is an LHS graduate age 40 years or older, or someone who has been deceased for at least five years.
Maureen Riggs will be the next Justice of the Peace in Precinct 2.
Riggs bested Bucky Boswell in the Republican primary runoff on May 22, 316 votes to 171 votes.
Riggs led in both absentee (67 to 37) and early voting (118 to 73), and also won on election day (133 to 61).
The runoff was necessary since none of the three candidates on the March primary ballot received over 50 percent of the votes.
Llano Youth Soccer Association has concluded its 2018 season. This weeks results are as follows:
U8: Dairy Queen, coached by Steven Wisdom, played Hill Country Embroidery, and Dairy Queen won 5 to 3. MVPs are Wyatt Quigley and Heriberto Montoya. Sportsmanship are awarded to Alexis Engleman.
Llano Police Department, coached by Miranda Lara, played Reliance Ranches, coached by Paul Weller, and LPD won 6 to 1.
Thomas (Tommy) Lindell Bailey was born in Abilene, Texas on Nov. 1, 1930. He passed away in Llano on May 23, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nannie Bailey; three sisters, Dorothy Kossey, Betty Thornton and Lorelle Floyd; one brother, Lawrence Bailey; and one daughter, Sharla Bailey Ebert.
