Fumonisin No Threat to Food Supply
A hot, dry July and a wet August have led to increases in a natural fungus byproduct in some Texas corn. Despite the increase in fumonisin, or mycotoxin, in the Texas Panhandle, authorities say the food supply is safe. “For years there have been processes in place to ensure the food on our grocery store shelves is safe,” Shannon Worrell, Mason County Farm Bureau president, said.
