At Monday morning's Mason County Commissioners' Court, the retirement of Sheriff Buster Nixon was accepted by the Court. They then voted to appoint Chief Deputy Joe Lancaster, the presumptive Sheriff and only candidate for the office in the general election, as Mason County Sheriff and he was sworn in, beginning his official duties on September 1.
