The southeast side of the shed provided shelter from the cool northwest wind. The early morning sun reflected off the tin siding warming our backs as we leaned against it waiting for the other shearers to arrive. Ernest and I were engaged in our semi-annual conversation, catching up on what had happened in each other's lives since the last shearing.
