I have been the Supervisor of the Recycle Center for a little over 3 years. As the years go by, I have watched as the price of plastics fall lower and lower until many of the plastic items we take in have become worth absolutely nothing. In the last year, China has decided that it is no longer going to, “buy America’s trash” which has made things even harder. I have had four companies that used to take our recyclables go out of business in the past two years.

Happy Labor Day. It is the official end of summer. When you retire, holidays are not so important. We have holidays every day. Husband John is scheduled to come home from the nursing home this week. We are both ready. I am weary of my almost daily trip to Kerrville. As I write this Sunday, I am positive that God is watching over me on each and every trip.

I've always been a fan of the Senator. While he and I might not have agreed politically on many items, I admired him for his dedication to his country and to his constituency, as well as for his independent streak, which he exhibited on many occasions. Blessings I wonder why, when a person has been blessed, there are those who feel entitled to thwart, slander, and cast aspersions on the recipient-of-choice made by Divine Providence? I receive with a grateful heart, the good will and blessings which continue to come my way. May your life also be blessed! Margaret Mason

And, while the original recipe called for “stirring it all together in the pan,” I’ve found that I wind up slopping a lot of it out, and have gone to using a nice, deep bowl.

Apocalypse sooner or later If you, like many Americans, have a brain, then you’re definitely at risk of being attacked by zombies, when the Zombie Apocalypse starts. If you, like many Americans, believe zombies aren’t real, then you definitely haven’t been getting the emails I have.

Diapers and Other Changes… Diapers haven’t been discussed often at our house for several decades. In fact, even when they were budgeted items, not much was said about them. Actually, most young parents in the 1970s opted for fabric diapers. Most of our discussions centered on whether we could afford a home diaper delivery service for successive months. To avoid misunderstanding, I should explain that such services meant that fresh diapers would be delivered as scheduled several times ...
