On Monday, County Commissioners accepted a funding agreement for the Courthouse rebuild, discussed the increased need for ambulance service, and talked about upcoming redistricting requirements for Mason County.
The commissioners approved a resolution to accept a funding award of $10.1 million dollars from the Texas Historical Commission (THC) for the courthouse rebuilding project.
The rate of community transmission in Mason County, along with some surrounding counties, still is classified as “high,” but the number of cases is on a decline, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week. The number of active cases has declined nearly 70% compared to last week, according to the CDC on Tuesday.
The Mason High School girls and boys varsity cross country teams competed on Monday, Oct. 25 in the UIL Class 2A Region IV Championship meet on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

The Mason High School varsity football team kept its long district winning streak alive on Friday, Oct. 22 when the Punchers rallied in the fourth quarter for a thrilling 26-21 victory vs. Johnson City High School.
The Punchers got their annual Homecoming Game started with a bang on offense as Mason got the ball first and used its stout rushing attack to drive downfield.
The Mighty Mason Puncher Band went to their Regional UIL Marching Contest on October 16th in Burnet and came away with a first division rating. All three judges gave us a 1st division and had lots of great comments for us. The kids performed really well. This rating is the first step in achieving sweepstakes, which is a first division in marching, concert, and sight reading.

Johnny Menchaca, 70, from Mason, Texas, was relieved of his earthly burdens and joys on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born on the 4th of July 1951 to parents Alfred and Mary Menchaca in Morton, Texas, and was raised in Mason.
He was a hard-working man who took his job, whatever it may be, seriously and with confidence.
The Mueller family regrets to inform the community that our precious Omie, mother, and wife has left her earthly home. After suffering complications from COVID-19 virus, she passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The Flowers of Fall
After our long, hot, and dry summer, I was not expecting to have an abundance of native flowers and great numbers of butterflies. I am happy to say that this fall is a flower fall. But first, let's start out with the veggie garden. You are still in the planting zone for some seeds and garlic bulbs.

And that cry of the Psalmist reminds us this is nothing new. The struggle with stress has been around from the very beginning.
