All early voting will be held on the first floor in Mason County Courthouse. You have to show a photo ID and bringing your Voter’s registration card will help speed up the process. This year the cards are orange. Early voting began February 18 and goes through February 28. The last day to request a ballot to be mailed to you is February 21st.
Mark your calendar for the first public performance of the 2020 Mason High School One Act Play. This Sunday, March 1 at 5 p.m., the cast and crew will present their competition piece at the MHS auditorium. The students have been attending rehearsals after long days of school and sport practices, sacrificing free time on Sunday afternoons while keeping up with school work to prepare their production.
This month, the University Interscholastic League announced that Jacki Maenius, the Theatre Teacher for both the Mason Junior High and High School, has won the prestigious 2019 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award. With this award, UIL seeks to honor the careers of educators who have “enabled students to develop and refine their extracurricular talents to the highest degree possible within the education system.” Recipients of the award receive $1,000 and a symbolic memento from the State of Tex ...
TXDOT will hold a public meeting at the Mason County Courthouse on Monday, February 24th at 9am to discuss the proposed White’s Crossing Bridge Replacement Project. The public is invited to attend to learn about this project and how it will affect the public during its construction and after it is completed.
BUDDY’S ANIMAL RESCUE is asking for food donations for the Mason City Pound. With an annual budget of $3,000, we are seeking local help to take care of our pound animals. This Thursday and Friday, February 20 and 21: Items needed: Dry Dog and Cat food, CANNED kitten food and cat litter would be so helpful and appreciated. Drop off locations: Mason Bank, Radio Station and City Hall. Mason Critters THANK YOU.
The MCF is now accepting applications for our spring grant cycle. In the past thirteen years, the MCF has awarded over 135 grants for more than $360,000. We have provided grants for upgrades in medical services in our community, area fire departments, school programs, city beautification, and many other areas.
If you own tangible personal property that is used to produce income, you must file arendition with the Mason Central Appraisal District by April 15. A rendition is a report that lists all the taxable property you owned or controlled on Jan. 1 of this year. Property includes inventory and equipment used by a business.
It’s time for the annual Mason County Youth Rally! Like in years past, the rally will be held at the Mason County Community Building on Saturday, February 8th. Registration begins at 5:30; grades 5-12 are welcomed to attend. The event is over at 11:00 for 5th through 8th grades, but high schoolers are invited to stay for S’mores and fellowship until midnight. Mason County Youth Rally is an awesome community event where all the churches come together to serve our youth.

The City of Mason will be holding a City Election, Saturday, May 2, 2020. City positions up for election this year are: Mayor at Large, City Commissioner District 1 and City Commissioner District 3. Residents of the City of Mason who desire to place their name on the ballot for one of these positions may do so beginning Wednesday January 15, 2020 until Friday February 14, 2020.
