Picture this: 44 graduates dressed in their Sunday best, file into the auditorium to the tune of “Pomp & Circumstance.” The audience is filled with family and friends of the seniors, not to mention, the many local scholarship donors who have come to give away thousands of dollars. The students are seated on the stage in front of the giant purple Horsehoe M as they wait in anticipation of hearing their name called to receive their scholarship certificate, the culmination of four years of h ...
This week is National Hospital Week. Hospital week is a week dedicated to celebrating hospitals and healthcare systems. Primarily it is a week to celebrate the people who serve in them - the teams of Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and support services whose passion it is to care for our communities.
A normal Hospital Week for the Hill Country Memorial (HCM) staff, is a week of celebration and hallways full of smiles.
At the beginning of our reign, we as the Mason County Queens Court selected a philanthropic project. We chose Bluebonnet Casa because we wanted to help make an impact on children in our community. The original plan was to raise funds during the entirety of our year and donate all at the conclusion of our reign in July.
With the current state of our country; and, specifically, our community, many organizations in our area are struggling financially.

We fired up the grill and served a delicious hamburger dinner for all the children who live at Hill Country Youth Ranch.
In this historic time when we’re dealing with the Coronavirus crisis, experiencing a drop in donations, and scrambling to keep enough food in our pantry, this wonderful gift from the Hill ...

These are metrics the hospital staff pays attention to on a daily basis, according to Jennifer Murray, HCM Quality Manager.
“We have a strong push for patient safety ...

On Saturday, Mason Community Kitchen produced 163 containers of chicken posole with New Mexican green chiles and fire-roasted tomatoes. These meals are being distributed free of charge to those who need them. Many of the frozen containers have been taken to the senior center, and most of the remainder will be given out at the food pantry on May 11.
Adding a layer of safety for patients, staff, and community members, Hill Country Memorial (HCM) is one of the first hospitals in Texas to install temperature scanners featuring artificial intelligence technology.
The devices– cai-AMS-T2 autonomous monitoring platforms–are among the first developed utilizing this technology, according to Shane Dickinson, HCM Director of Information Technology.
“This new technology is being implemented rapidly across the country as a result of the pa ...
This spring seems to be one of the greenest seasons that I remember lately and the wildflowers continue their colorful show. The weather is back on track for a “normal” springtime, and we all wish that the other aspects of our life could begin to resemble the “normal” that we all are used to.
