The members of the Fort Mason American Legion Post 285 and Ladies Auxiliary opened their meeting with the pledge of allegiance and a prayer. The pledge was led by Commander Lawrence Spell and a prayer was offered by Finance Officer Bruce Fowler. Post Adjutant Holly B. Gilmore reported that the delegates for Boys State; Austin Habecker, Grant Stockbridge, and Jackson Chapman, will be leaving this Sunday for Boys State in Austin.
The Melchior and Rosina Bauer descendants held their 46th annual reunion June 5, 2016. Family members gathered in Castell, Texas, at the restored school building, the site where most of the fourth generation of Bauers had attended school. Wayne Carl Hofmann catered a barbecue dinner to some fifty attendees. President Vernon Fritze called the group to order.

Summer is flying by. Everyone seems to be running in a different direction. Jan and Max Jordan hosted the Luchenbach Reunion at their home on Saturday, June 11, with assistance from John and Susie Jordan and Gail and Nolan Sholar. They reported about 40 people who enjoyed good barbeque and visiting. Sterling Jordan celebrated his 90th birthday on Sunday afternoon at the Stribling Room.

If you didn’t come to hear John Erickson last week, you missed a terrific time! We had about 115 people, and he thoroughly entertained us. Be sure to mark your calendars for the special programs next week: Percussion Things (comedy sketches, stories, and drum performances) on June 20th; the O’Donnells (musical performance on recorders) on June 21st; and Wild Things Zoofari (exotic animals) on June 23rd.
The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, June 7th for it’s monthly business meeting. There were 33 members and 1 visitor in attendance. It was decided at the board meeting which preceded the business meeting that the Mason Lions Club would do a hamburger cook at the Mason Rodeo this year. Last year the Mason Lions provided the hamburgers and Mason Young Life provided the drinks and chips and served the meals.
