City Council Tackles Full Agenda at April 10 Meeting
The city received its funding for the final FEMA Phase 2 repair and dredging project resulting from the 2015 flood. Crews have been dredging at the Wayne Smith dam for several weeks to remove debris and sediment sent downstream during the flood. While the pumping bypassed water, the city’s contractor installed custom dam drain valve protective grate structures in several places at the dam. The custom-built grates will allow some sediment that normally builds up at the dam to pass through, protecting the dam and pipelines there and reduce the need to dredge in the future.

The Blanco City Council meeting on April 10, 2018 began with Mayor Martha Herden announcing that the April 7, 2018 Trash-Off was successful. The council discussion on the upcoming June 8-10, 2018 Lavender Festival.
