‘More recess and Vitamin D’
BES third grader gets more recess time for students by doing things the right way
BES third grader Jake Snow meets with Principal Jowie Walker to ask for more recess time and more vitamin D. A classmate accompanied Jake to meet with their principal.

Jake Snow, a third grader at Blanco Elementary School, has always been a leader and one who “thinks outside the box.” One day last month his mother, Jessi Snow asked him what he’d done at recess that day. Jake replied, “I didn’t play with anyone, I just sat on the swings and timed recess.” Jessi asked, “Why didn’t you play with the other kids?” Jake told her that he’d noticed that recess was shorter this year and he had asked how long it was.
