The Blanco County Commissioners Court unanimously approved the Master Pipeline Agreement at its meeting Nov. 12. The Master Pipeline Agreement is composed of three different agreements: Pipeline Easement Agreement, Master Road Use Agreement, and the Blanco County Investment Agreement. Copies of the full agreements can be found on the Blanco County’s website under Public Notices tab in the Commissioners Court meeting 11-12-19 supporting documents.
Judge Brett Bray called the special meeting of the Blanco Commissioners Court to order at 9:01 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18. All four commissioners were present for this meeting. The only discussion that took place was regarding the Nov. 5 election. Oscar Villarreal, elections administrator, provided a brief summary of the results and informed the court that the election ran smoothly.
Jake Snow, a third grader at Blanco Elementary School, has always been a leader and one who “thinks outside the box.” One day last month his mother, Jessi Snow asked him what he’d done at recess that day. Jake replied, “I didn’t play with anyone, I just sat on the swings and timed recess.” Jessi asked, “Why didn’t you play with the other kids?” Jake told her that he’d noticed that recess was shorter this year and he had asked how long it was.
The Blanco City Council meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. on Nov. 12 by Mayor Martha Herden. Mayor Pro Tem Martin Sauceda, Councilmember Tony Vela, Councilmember Matt Lewis, and Councilmember Keith McCellan were present for the meeting. The pledge of allegiance was recited before any discussion took place in honor of Veterans Day.
The Blanco County Commissioners Court was called to order at 9 a.m. on Nov. 12 by Judge Brett Bray with all four commissioners: Tommy Weir, Emil Uecker, Chris Liesmann, and Paul Granberg present. After reciting the pledge of allegiance, Judge Bray read the proclamation recognizing and honoring World War II veteran Porter Watson, who recently celebrated his 95th birthday.
A dozen Blanco High School students are learning to navigate cyberspace with the dexterity of a nimble fighter jet pilot. CyberPatriots is a U.S. Air Force Association competition, after all. Two teams of six students participated in the nationwide competition on Friday, Nov. 15. “I enjoy seeing the students compete at a national level,” said team sponsor Jamie Krenek, who teaches computer science and Advanced Placement math at Blanco High School.
Ashlee LaRue, a Blanco senior, signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at the University of Mississippi on National Signing Day Wednesday, Nov. 13. Ole Miss is an NCAA Division I university in the Southeastern Conference. The Rebels of Ole Miss compete against 12 teams in softball in the SEC, including Louisiana State University and Texas A&M University.
Griffin Johnson, a Blanco senior, signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Colorado Christian University on National Signing Day Wednesday, Nov. 13. Colorado Christian, located in Lakewood, west of Denver, and is an NCAA Division II college in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The CCU Cougars compete against nine other universities, such as, Colorado School of Mines and New Mexico Highlands.
Peggy June Wright of Blanco passed away on Nov. 7, 2019, in her daughter’s home in Kyle, Texas, at the age of 79. Peggy was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center and UMC’s Lunches of Love and the Blanco Museum. She was a member of the Blanco Art Group and the Lavender Ladies. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m.
