

The Blanco junior varsity football team fell 36-12 last Wednesday to the Columbus Cardinals.
The Cardinals struck first with a touchdown, but the extra point attempt was no good. The Panthers scored on a quarterback keeper by Cameron Anderson. The extra point attempt was no good and the game was tied 6-6 with 2:34 remaining in the first quarter.
Columbus added a touchdown and a two-point conversion to take a 14-6 lead with 1:13 left in the first stanza.
The Panthers added another touchdown on an Anderson keeper in the second quarter. The two-point conversion attempt failed, and the Cardinals led 14-12 at halftime.
Columbus scored three touchdowns in the second half to seal the win. Blanco moved the ball in the red zone, but could not capitalize each time they were near the end zone. Outstanding offensive plays were made by Anderson, Joe Lopez, Fernando Palacios and Estevan Lopez.
Defensively, Rowdy Topper, Grant Jones, Rains Finch and Carson Romero made tackles.
The Panther JV team travels to Bandera Thursday for a 5 p.m. game.
