A focal point of interest in Blanco’s Redbud Café is the Rainfall Record, displayed on large cream-colored plywood panels on the west side wall, with data faithfully collected by the Blanco Lions’ club and more famously, by local weather observer Roy Byars, who was the manager of Charles E. Crist Hardware, the original owners of the building.
The GVTC Foundation recently awarded a grant to the Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center in support of the HCPCC expansion of services to the Bulverde/Spring Branch area. Working with the Acacia Medical Mission and the Gabriel Project of St. Joseph's of Honey Creek Catholic Church, the HCPCC will be providing the same free services in Bulverde that are available in Boerne. Thanks to an anonymous donor, a laptop sonogram machine has been purchased and staff have been trained on it.
Having now served as Mayor of Blanco for approximately four months, it is time to update the City's citizens on the current state of the City. The City Council and I have been working hard to correct some long standing issues for the betterment of our community, now and in the future.

In the Public Comments portion of the September 8 meeting of the governing body of Blanco, night-sky advocate Wayne Gosnell reported that he had "good news and bad news" for council members. The bad news was that the newly-remodeled Dairy Queen had installed lighting not in compliance with Blanco's lighting ordinance.
The Blanco Library is honored to announce that at this month's Blanco County South Library District board meeting, it was approved to accept a contract for a $ 33,100 cooperative grant project between the library and the Community English Classes (CEC) Program. This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.
The Blanco Panthers only needed one strong quarter offensively to bring home their third win of the season, while the defense held strong denying Luling any thoughts of an Eagle victory. Although Blanco had some success moving the ball, turnovers and stalled drives put an end to several Panther possessions. The first quarter of play proved to be uneventful, as both teams simply traded field position.
The Lady Panther volleyball team fell 0-3 to a solid Bandera Bulldog team on Tuesday, September 8 with set scores of 9-25, 24-26, and 15-25. Malyn Valliant led the Panther with 10 kills, 2 aces and 10 digs. Gracie Edmondson nailed 3 blocks and Emily Struck smacked 2 aces. Hannah Hulburt set 11 assists.
Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Haas Jr. of Blanco, Texas along with Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kosub of St. Hedwig, Texas are happy to announce the engagement of their children, Rebecca (Becki) Dawn Haas and Cody Kosub. The bride elect is currently employed with Red Arena Riding Equines for the Disabled in Dripping Springs Texas, and the Future Groom is employed with Texas Department of Transportation out of Sequin Texas.
Tejas Art Club has named Belinda Turk their September Artist of the Month. Turk joined the group two years ago after being invited by Olga Ibarra and has since then enjoyed trying her hand at painting and experimenting with new techniques. “I had serious doubts about joining at first because I couldn’t paint,” Turk said.

Gratitude and thanksgiving are in my heart this weekend. Even though problems have come up, looking back they caused me to make decisions I wouldn't have made otherwise, and those decisions led me to where I am now, and for that I'm grateful!

Philippians 3:8c-9 says “that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” This week, we will go back over to the book of Romans to finish our current series on righteousness.
