Election day is approaching and on November 3 citizens will have the opportunity to cast their vote on several state-level constitutional amendments. Those that live outside the Blanco city limits will also be voting on a one-cent tax sales tax proposition for Emergency Services District #2. The Texas state sales tax rate is 6.25% but local jurisdictions may also impose sales taxes up to 2% for a total maximum combined rate of 8.25%.
The citizens of Blanco can be very proud of the dedicated professionals who provide the services necessary to keep the City running smoothly. Vital to the security and well-being of the City is the Blanco Police Department. This Update highlights the officers to whom we all owe our respect and gratitude. Chief Mike Ritchey.
With an overwhelming victory over the visiting Karnes City Badgers this past Friday, the Blanco Panthers secured a play-off spot while improving to 8 and 0 on the season. The Panthers will look to sweep the district with remaining games against Poth and Natalia before starting the play-offs. The Panthers scored twice in the opening quarter of play as Aaron Uballe and Ryan Ronces crossed the goal line on runs of 12 and 7 yards respectively.
The Blanco Lady Panthers lost two district games this past week, falling to the Lago Vista Lady Vikings on Tuesday, October 20 in a 5 set battle, 2-3, and to the Jarrell Lady Cougars on Friday, October 23 in 3 sets, 0-3. Set scores against Lago Vista were 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 18-25, and 12-15.
The Blanco Panther girls cross country team won the 3A Region 4 Cross Country Championship on Monday, October 26 at Texas A & M Corpus Christi. The Blanco team scored 57 points, followed by 2nd place finisher, Vanderbilt Industrial, with 146 points. Goliad was the 3rd place team with 165 points.
The Blanco FFA Chapter recently completed a busy fall judging schedule with teams competing in Land Evaluation, Homesite Evaluation, Plant ID and Range and Pasture Judging. Overall, more than 30 FFA members represented Blanco at competitions across Central Texas with all four teams doing extremely well. The Plant ID team would finish 1st overall at the Bexar County Invitational, the Comal-Guadalupe NRCS Invitational and the Blanco FFA Invitational in addition to winning the Hill District and Ar ...
I encourage you to carefully read John 3:1-6. Vs. 6 says, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." Jesus said we must be born again, born of the Spirit. If one is only born physically, born of the union between father and mother, they will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Three weeks ago I began to suffer from allergies, and it's still bothering me! I'll bet a lot of y'all are bothered also, but thankfully God gave us rain! The first night it began raining I was trying to sleep (while coughing my head off) and I turned on a humidifier to help my cough loosen, but I also had the air conditioner on, and it draws out the humidity, so the Lord put a little wisdom in my heart to turn off the a/c and open the window and let some of His natural moisture into the air!
Most of us have probably heard the slogan - "There are something's that money cannot buy, but for everything else there is MasterCard." The slogan is a seduction to the application of debt. The apostle John has something else in mind when he offers enrollment on the Master's Card, for with this card an unimaginable debt has been paid for all who are enrolled.
