The Blanco Masonic Lodge has announced that the annual Earnie R. Davis, Jr. memorial "Care and Share Dinner" will be held on Saturday November 21st from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until the food runs out. The Lodge is located on the S.W. Corner of US Hwy. 281 and Eleventh St. Each year local Mason's provide a full Thanksgiving Dinner to the elderly, shut-ins and the local Blanco Community residents through the free event.
The Blanco Panthers made quick work of the Natalia Mustangs this past Friday to close out a perfect 10 and 0 regular season with a 41-0 win at Natalia. The Panthers picked up over 350 yards in total offense, while the defense posted is fourth consecutive shut-out in district play. In the opening quarter of play the Panthers took control early as Blanco scored three times.
The Blanco Independent School District held its regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, November 9 at the Blanco High School Library. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the board approved the minutes of previous meetings, ratified expenditures, and reviewed financial reports, enrollment reports and the Superintendent’s report. This past Monday, Blanco High School hosted the Hill District FFA Leadership Development Events. 14 schools from across the Hill Country were represented by more than 300 students with 48 of those being from the Blanco FFA Chapter. Overall, Blanco won 1st place in 8 different events while also placing 2nd in two other events as all 10 of these teams will be advancing to the Area VII FFA LDE's next Wednesday.
The Blanco Youth Freshman consisting of 1st and 2nd graders and the Blanco JV consisting of 3rd and 4th graders steamrolled through the Hill Country Youth Football League both undefeated at 5-0 in Division 2 play. The freshman won their semifinal playoff game vs Kingsland by a score of 39-0 and the JV won their semifinal game against Lago Vista by a score of 14-6.
The Blanco Lady Panther volleyball team won their Bi-District playoff game against the Natalia Lady Mustangs, 3-2, on Tuesday, November 3 at the Luling High School gym. Set scores for the match were 19-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-19, and 15-10. Malyn Valliant fired in 15 kills, followed closely by Kendall Brock with 13 kills.
On Thursday night November 5, the Blanco Panther junior varsity football team went north to take on Liberty Hill after a cancellation from the district rivals, Natalia. Liberty Hill is a 4A-DI team and the Panthers would have their work cut out for them. Blanco kicked off to start the game as Liberty Hill waited on the 26-yard line.
The Blanco Panther girl's cross country team endured cold, rain, and mud to place 5th at the State Cross Country Meet at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock on Saturday, November 7. Senior Bret Leigh Nance led the Panthers placing 22nd with a time of 12:53.13. Freshman Johanna Villarreal was 26th running the course in 13:00.53.
Several members of the Blanco FFA Chapter recently traveled to College Station to take part in the Texas A&M "Aggiefest" Invitational Leadership Development Events. Overall, more than 250 students competed in the events as more than 50 schools, 1A-6A, were represented. Blanco's Jr. Chapter Conducting team did very well placing 1st overall.
