One of Blanco's long-standing businesses, Blanco Gardens, is closing due to the health issues of owner Pete Foegelle and his wife Cheryl, who has been the manager of the popular garden center since 1998. New owner Amelia Lintner will re-open the business in February as gardeners plan their spring landscaping and gardens.
The Blanco Volunteer Fire Department took possession of its new Brush Truck last week thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Texas A&M Forest Service. The grant was initially for $200,000 and a large brush truck but after examining the number of responses made using the brush truck over the past 3 years, department officials decided that a smaller brush truck, and the associated $100,000 grant, was much more suitable to actual needs.

Excitement ran high at the Community English Classes (CEC) at the Baptist Church on Monday, November 16. The CEC students were introduced to the Kindle Fire as part of a cooperative program between the Blanco Library and the Community English Classes made possible by a grant from the US Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
The Blanco City Government strives to provide services to citizens in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner. For most citizens right now, the "face" of the City Government is the three ladies who staff City Hall. This week's Mayor's Update highlights these three public servants.

Bret Leigh Nance, Blanco High School senior, signed her National Letter of Intent to run track and cross country at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She was joined by her long time coach, Stuart Schultz (K-12), BHS Athletic Director Danny Rogers and her dear friend and trainer Hannah Maenius Priour.
The Blanco Panthers improved to 12 and 0 on the season after defeating the Taft Greyhounds this past Friday in San Antonio 30-15. With the victory, the Panthers will face a familiar play-off opponent in the East Bernard Brahmas.
