Blanco Taxidermist Jerry Ayer went to the San Antonio Lighthouse of the Blind September 19 with the thought in mind that he might be able to teach some of the children about dangerous animals. He, himself, came away with an education. “When someone suggested presenting to the Lighthouse I instantly thought to myself ‘wow they can touch these animals and for the first time maybe get a picture of what a dangerous animal may look like’,” Ayer said.
The Blanco Library was honored December 2nd by a visit from the Director of the Texas State Library and Achieves Commission (TSLAC), Mark Smith, to present a ceremonial grant check for $33,970. The Cooperative Grant allows the Blanco Library to provide support for the local Community English Classes (CEC) to provide English language learners the tools they need to advance their language and technology skills.

On Saturday, December 12, a special HOPE booth will be on the square at Blanco Market Days hours. Booth space is limited, so an even larger scale booth will be at Trinity Lutheran Church -- 703 N.
Sophomore Blanco FFA member Jon Lovinggood was named the Blanco FFA Student of the Month for October. Jon was a member of the district and area winning plant ID team. Blanco's plant ID team was the only Area VII team from more than 160 schools to win all 5 competitions this fall.
Blanco PTO's annual poinsettia fund raiser was record setting this year. Sales increased from last year by 184 for a total of 1538 poinsettias. The profits from this fundraiser go to Blanco Elementary for field trips.
The first place winner this year was Carson Riba with sales of 71 plants. Second place went to Trey Vanderford with sale of 51 plants.
The Panther basketball team won consolation in the LBJ 2015 Invitational Basketball Tournament at Johnson City High School on Saturday, December 5. The Blanco squad lost 71-72 in a close game in the first round against the San Antonio Lutheran Mustangs on Thursday, December 3. Jacob McCaslin was on fire for the Panthers, scoring 26 points.
The Lady Panthers won 2nd place in the LBJ 2015 Invitational Basketball Tournament at Johnson City High School on Saturday, December 5. On Thursday, December 3 the Panthers defeated Our Lady of the Hills Hawks of Kerrville 47-22. Kendall Brock was high scorer with 10 points, followed closely by Gracie Edmondson with 9.
