In spite of a chain link fence surrounding part of its entrance, the popular Redbud Cafe on Blanco’s historic square is open for business as renovations to the historic structure progress. The Blanco City Council voted to proceed with upgrades to the current water treatment plant rather than relying exclusively on the Canyon Lake pipeline to meet the city’s future water needs.
The decision was made following a report from Jones-Heroy and Associates and DCS Engineering LLC during a special board meeting on Aug.
A sparse number of parents stopped by Blanco High School last Wednesday to hear Principal Keitha St. Clair review the district’s random drug-testing policy for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.
The policy was adopted by the board of education in December and went into effect during the second semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
Three weeks after affirming the “see-through” policy would stay, the Blanco Independent School District made a 180-degree turn regarding its backpack policy.
Superintendent Buck Owens announced during a special board meeting on Monday that “language requiring see-through backpacks has been removed” from the student-parent handbook.
“The issue has generated a lot of interest and discussion,” Ford said on Monday night.
