A Comfort man was arrested after a Blanco Police Department officer confiscated more than 100 grams of methamphetamine during a recent routine traffic stop.
The name of the 34-year-old man has not been released because the investigation is continuing.
Chief Mike Ritchey told the Blanco County News that one of his officers pulled over a 2000 Ford that was northbound on Highway 281 near Blanco Avenue because of defective equipment.
Mark Kuebel has done something no other Blanco High School student has done. Kuebel, a senior at BHS, has been named a “Commended Student” through the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
A letter of commendation from Blanco High School and the National Merit Scholarship Corp., the organization that conducts the program, was presented to Kuebel during the Blanco Independent School District Board of Education’s October meeting last week.

During its October meeting, the Blanco City Council voted unanimously to deny a rezoning request by developer Jim Cook for property on Trainer Street.
Cook’s request for an R-2 designation on the seven-acre tract would have allowed him to build about 26 homes on 7,500-square-foot lots.
A recommendation to rezone the property had been denied by the planning and zoning commission in a divided vote.
