There was little doubt as to whom Blanco County wanted as its next president of the United States as almost three out of every voters cast ballots for Donald Trump in the Tuesday, Nov. 8, general election. The county clerk’s office released its voter totals last week after ballots were counted. Trump, the Republican Party’s nominee, will become the 45th president in January after he defeated Democrat Party nominee Hillary Clinton.

When it comes to financial integrity, the Blanco Independent School District is superior. That was the finding of the Texas Education Agency as it evaluated local data from the 2014-15 academic year. “The headline out there is that our rating is superior,” BISD Business Manager Matt Streger told board of education members during their November meeting. Blanco netted 74 out of a possible 100 points.

Business owners and employees, as well as residents, are being asked to be on the lookout for counterfeit bills after a handful have been passed in the city during the past couple of months. Blanco Police Chief Mike Ritchey told the Blanco County News that one man is in custody after being charged with felony passing forged documents, but since he has been in jail a few other fake $50 bills have been spotted in town. “This guy went into a local convenience store and passed two counterfeit $50 ...
