During the last few months, the need to update Blanco’s Comprehensive Master Plan has been discussed by both the planning and zoning commission and the city council. Twin Sisters gained some additional notoriety last week when it was part of a Texas dance hall tour that featured country music artist Asleep at the Wheel. The tour group gathered in San Antonio last Monday, and its first stop on Tuesday was Blanco and Twin Sisters Dance Hall. There, a full day of activities got underway at 10:30 a.m.

The administrative team of the Blanco Independent School District is recommending to the board of education that 15½ staff positions be looked at for possible cuts for the 2017-18 academic year. The school board conducted a special meeting on Monday night in the elementary school cafeteria, and BISD Business Manager Matthew Streger outlined a plan that could save the district $766,000 to offset the expected loss of about $700,000 in Additional State Aid for Tax Reduction funding.
