AUSTIN-- Heat exhaustion is one of the most common maladies that park rangers encounter during the summer months, and with temperatures soaring to scorching heats well above 90 degrees, Texas State Park staff are encouraging park visitors to follow basic heat safety precautions to stay safe on the trail.

Summer band began Monday, July 24, with music and marching clinics. The Blanco High School Marching Band will be lead by Clarissa Derby and Mitchell Barnett. BHS Cheerleaders also returned to work, painting signs and preparing for the 2017 season. BHS volleyball began its annual camp for young Blanco players.
Football and volleyball Two-a-Days will begin August 7.

The Albert Community Club will hold its annual barbecue and fundraiser on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Williams Creek School Building in Albert, Texas.
Gates will open at 4:00 for drinks and socializing. Musical entertainment will be by Waylon Garcia. Pork barbecue with all the trimmings will be served starting at 6:30.

Dorothy Clay Dale Speake died on June 23, 2017. She has joined her husband, Sterling Speak, her two sisters, Hazel Ball and Jean Manes, and her parents Elmer and Jane Dale in Heaven and is with the Lord God. Born on September 1, 1922, Clay attended the University of Texas at Austin and served the Army Air Corp during World War II in a civilian capacity.
Clay, who was named after her father’s friend, was married to Sterling Speake for 34 years.
On Monday, July 24, 2017, Anna Lou Felps of Johnson City entered eternal life in heaven at the astounding age of 101. Anna Lou was born June 1, 1916 on a small family farm along Miller Creek in Blanco County.
She attended the local school until she was old enough to work in the fields to help support her family.
A couple of weeks ago FBC Blanco Student Ministry had the opportunity to serve at MissionLab in New Orleans, LA.
MissionLab allowed our students to share the Gospel with people in a very real way.
We spent our week in NOLA doing backyard Bible clubs, prayer walking, yard work in the 9th ward and working at a thrift store for a local recovery ministry.
