Over the past several weeks passersby have watched with interest as the Old Blanco County Courthouse on Town Square has been getting a much needed roof upgrade.
The effort is made possible by the Old County Courthouse Preservation Society (OBCCPS). Founded in 1986 in order to purchase the historic edifice and to keep it from being relocated, its members have fought hard to keep it a viable and integral part of Blanco’s civic culture.

On July 25 and 26, an assessment team from various state agencies visited Blanco to hear presentations from Blanco organizations and visit several tourist attractions. As Cole Hubbard, Economic Development and Tourism Research Coordinator for the Office of the Governor, explained, representatives will write a report following the visit to assist Blanco in enhancing its appeal to tourists.
A crew from Blanco Boy Scout troop 497 just returned from Northern Tier. A Scouting High Adventure experience.
Five days of Canoeing in the Boundary Waters wilderness of Northern Minnesota and a little of Canada. The time was spent canoeing, over 50 miles, doing 25 portages, and swimming, fishing and having some fun to go with it. An experience we will all remember.
RIBBON CUTTING: Rosemary’s Heirloom Creations celebrates their opening with a Ribbon Cutting. So, who is Rosemary? It translates to ‘Romero’ in the Spanish dictionary. “Heirloom Creations is about sharing my God given talent and passion for quilting with others.” Jerry and Pat Hendricks have graciously provided me with a place to make this happen.
Chi Omega Fraternity alumnae in Blanco, Burnet, and Llano counties recently formed a new alumnae group, Highland Lakes Chi Omega Alumnae. We will be meeting together on a regular basis for fun and friendship.
The most recent event was held at the home of Jean Anderson in Horseshoe Bay where everyone enjoyed a wonderful dinner and the lovely view of Lake LBJ from her spacious deck.

Blanco and its citizens have been blessed to have many spring fed creeks and the Blanco River. Hattie Lou Sultemeier was born January 2, 1925. She passed into her heavenly reward peacefully on Sunday evening, July 30, 2017. Hattie was the 8 of 10 children. She grew up in Sandy, Texas.
Hattie married the love of her life, Joe Syd Fuchs, April 7, 1947. They spent their married life in Blanco, Texas, where Joe Syd and his family owned and operated the Blanco Locker Plant.

Bob was born to Burdette and Emma Hogan Dobie on September 29, 1929 in Wimberley, Texas and was one of eight siblings.
Bob served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as a Sergeant stationed in Japan and fought in Korea.
