As of August 14, Canyon Lake Water Systems Company has implemented Stage 1 Drought Restrictions. Blanco Public Works Director Ronnie Rodriguez reported at the August 8 Blanco city council meeting that low, stagnant water in the Blanco River has forced the city to use the more expensive Canyon Lake water.
The Lady Panther volleyball team traveled to Boerne to tangle with the Boerne Lady Greyhounds this past Tuesday, August 15. The Greyhounds outscored the Panthers 25-17, 12-25, 25-22, 27-25. Hanna Srackangast smacked seven kills to lead the Panthers. Asher Haack and Kora Brock each hit six kills. Asher Haack set 21 assists.

Bill Ryman is the featured Artist of the Month. Mr Ryman is a member of the Tejas Art Club and specializes in oil painting. Although Mr Ryman turned 90 on his last birthday, he attends all the Tejas Art Club activities. After having served as a paratrooper in the Army, Mr Ryman worked as a draftsman for Gulf Oil in Houston.
It’s a celebration one century in the making as the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles introduces a specialty license plate commemorating the 100th anniversary of license plates in the state. The new 100-Year Plate will be available to order for only one year beginning Sept. 1, 2017. Texans who order this historic plate will pay $30 per year and be able to renew it annually.
Phillip Andrew Stovall, 68, of Blanco, TX passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Marble Falls, TX. He was born October 15, 1948, in Visalia, CA to Clifford L. and Cola M. (Pritchard) Stovall. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, August 11, 2017 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco where funeral services will be held in the Chapel at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 12, 2017 with Pastor Jeff officiating.
On Wednesday August 2, 2017 Charline Koeppen Read of Johnson City Texas went to be with the Lord. Charline was born in Brenham Texas to Edward and Dorothy Wuenscher Koeppen on February 3, 1942. Charline is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Dorothy, Brother Robert “Bobby” Koeppen and great grandson Matthew Sedlachek. Charline is survived by husband George Clifton Read, daughters Deborah Sultemeier and husband Tommy, Sherry Conlon and husband Thomas L.
Benjamin Franklin Anderson, Jr. 83, passed away after a lengthy illness, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at his home in Blanco, TX. He was surrounded by his family. Per his wishes, private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Let us begin at the beginning by what it means to be created in the image of God. Genesis 1:26 reads, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness…” Then in Genesis 1:27, “So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Humans are created in the image of God and in God’s likeness.

Hill Country Memorial Hospice recently welcomed a grief counselor. Randa Kirchner, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), provides grief support services including grief education for hospice patients and their families, high-risk counseling, crisis intervention and grief counseling for anyone in the community. “As a counselor, I spend the most time educating people on the grief process,” said Kirchner.
