In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 2005, there has been unprecedented and catastrophic flooding along the coast and southeastern portions of Texas. Rain continues to fall and flood waters continue to rise, leaving more and more Texans displaced from their homes.
The City of Blanco was honored to host the Region 7 Meeting of the Texas Municipal League on Aug. 18th, 2017.  Representatives from cities in Region 7 included Mayors and City Council members from Live Oak, Santa Clara, Balcones Heights, Schertz and others.  The group enjoyed a “walking tour” of downtown Blanco with a opening reception in the Old Blanco County Courthouse, tour of Uptown Blanco area and the Old Blanco Jail.  Dinner was served by 4th Street Bistro and Region 7 concluded ...

Water Tree Hill Country is owned by Terri Germany, and Michael Denton. Terri is a nurse and has been so for over thirty years, many of those working in Hospice. Michael is a Licensed Master Electrician since 1980, and in the trade for over 50 years. Terri is originally from Lake Jackson, and received her nursing Degree from Brazosport College.
The Blanco Chamber of Commerce is the newest recipient of artwork from the John Hamilton Legacy Collection. The Blanco Chamber Board of Directors gratefully received “Matin XIII: Fields” to hang in their office in the Old Blanco County Courthouse. This Hamilton is a 19” X 28” oil on linen that was painted circa 1986.
Blanco County Community Choir announces rehearsals for the annual Christmas concerts. Rehearsals are 4pm-6pm at First Baptist Church in Blanco starting Sunday, September 10. The concerts will be Friday, December 1 at Community Church of the Hills in Johnson City and Sunday, December 3 at First Baptist in Blanco. The choir always welcomes new singers. Blanco United Methodist Church is doing a Worship Service make-over. We have a great desire to reach the young people of our community to share the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ and the power of God that we all need to live each day. AUSTIN — Hurricane Harvey slammed the middle Texas coast on Aug. 25, hammering the region from Rockport to Palacios before continuing inland as a tropical storm and causing widespread catastrophic flooding. With wind speeds in excess of 130 miles per hour before landfall at Rockport, the National Hurricane Center in Miami gave the storm a rating of Category 4.
My wife and I had the privilege of seeing the eclipse at 37,000 feet aboard a Southwest Airlines flight.  Southwest had five flights traveling in the umbra-path where the shadow of totality is located.   Equipped with the proper ISO certified solar eclipse safety glasses, we were able to see the beginning of coverage and the effects of totality as we landed in St.
We Are Blood, the sole provider of blood to Central Texas hospitals, is currently experiencing a critical shortage of O Negative and O Positive blood. With school starting, Labor Day weekend fast approaching, and the potential for severe weather in the area, the critical need for O Negative and Positive blood is anticipated to continue through the next two weeks. We Are Blood serves over 40 hospitals and medical facilities in a 10-county area.
