My entry plan as new superintendent at BISD has involved listening, observing, learning and seeking feedback from district stakeholders. As a means to that end, I met with a Student Advisory Council at the high school to get student perspective and feedback. I asked several questions of the group and gathered valuable input to help guide conversations. One of the questions I asked was: What would you do if you ruled the district?
Junior Panthers will play at the Blanco High School Stadium Friday, Oct. 6, 2017. One of the most memorable of my Boy Scout adventures was when I, as an adult leader, along with others, took fifteen Scouts to explore an underground river deep in the heart of Mexico. We, in turn, were led by an experienced guide who was well acquainted with the terrain.
The annual Blanco Veterans’ Day Parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, and will travel through downtown Blanco. Long-time organizer and parade chair Roxanna Avants is seeking support for the parade, including entries to travel in the parade. “We invite the community to come out and salute our Blanco County veterans,” said Avants.

On Thursday, Oct. 17, 2017, the Johnson City Housing Authority will conduct free hearing tests along with free hearing aid cleaning at 9:30 a.m. A flu shot clinic will also be offered, starting at 10 a.m. at 304 S. Ave. F. The clinic and testing are open to the public.

Many longtime residents say that many of downtown’s old buildings are historic landmarks from decades ago, and they should stay the way as founders saw them in the 1870s and onward. The proof is in old photos as to how things looked like in the past. Historical photos can be seen inside the walls of the Old Blanco County Courthouse.
The rain didn’t slow down the JV Panthers as they hosted the Antonian Apaches Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017. The Panthers kicked off to the Apaches, who made a quick march into the end zone for a TD as well as a two-point conversion with 7:44 left in the first. The Apaches attempted an onside kick but Blanco was able to maintain position.
On a wet field Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, the Varsity Panthers hosted Antonian from San Antonio. Captains for the Panthers Zach Rogers, Tanner Suarez, Paco Vargas, and Brandon Steed as they elected to receive. Rogers kicked off and Walton Daves found his way to the Apache receiver for a devastating tackle that would set the tone for the night. The Apache offense started their first series, but with hard hits from Toby Triesch and Daves making key stops for the Panthers as well as Aaron Daniels ...
A man once told me that he knew Christians were losing the battle in the USofA just by laws that have been passed and the elections. My reply was, “No we did not lose, America lost.” God will have the final word and that final word is that everyone is going to live forever; issue is that we are not going to be all in the same place.
