At 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, Sergeant Jerry Thornhill, Blanco Police Department, observed a disturbance in the 400 block of Rust Ranch. He stopped to see what he could do to stop an assault in progress at 481 Rust Ranch Rd. A pregnant woman reported being assaulted by several members of a family living at the address.
Nearly 300 runners participated in the Real Ale 5K Beer Run, starting and finishing at the brewery, 231 San Saba Ct., ran south through downtown Blanco, by the Blanco River and back to Real Ale early Saturday morning, Dec. 9, 2017. One water stop at the 1.5 mile point was manned by Friends of the Blanco State Park, which received the proceeds from the event. The Panther basketball team defeated the Harper Longhorns 68-33 on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in a home game. Nick Sampeck ripped the nets scoring 22 points. Sampeck also led the team with six assists. Tyler LaRue fired in 19 points and made 16 rebounds and four blocks. Eddie Calzoncit contributed 14 points and seven steals The Blanco squad traveled to Devine for tournament play in the Devine Shootout.

he Lady Panthers began district play with a 53-28 win over the Ingram Lady Warriors on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. Lily Avila led the assault scoring 14 points and making four assists and five steals. Presley Young sank 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kendall Brock scored nine points and made 10 rebounds, four assists, and seven steals.
The board of trustees met Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 for the monthly board meeting. The meeting began with recognition of the Blanco High School girls state-qualifying cross country team. BHS principal Keitha St. Clair awarded each member of the team a certificate and spoke about their efforts and the dedication of their coach Michael Seales.

Blanco’s Planning and Zoning Commission held two public hearings at its Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2017 meeting. The first was to get citizen input on a request for rezoning 10.58 acres on Highway 1623 from Residential to Mixed Use.
