“This year, we saw more utilization of the Recycling Center,” Granberg said. “Every year it grows in use.”
Granberg noted that some of the commodities change in amount recycled and value, but overall utilization continues to increase year-over-year.

The first meeting of 2018 of the Board of Education of Blanco Independent School District was held on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.
Opening with a spotlight on the board members for School Board Recognition month, members received gifts from all the campus’ including cookies, candies, hats and even two students, who gave the gift of song.

As a “not for profit” organization, Blanco Quilters on the Square’s Mission Statement declares “to promote the appreciation, enjoyment and knowledge of quilting as an art form...and encourages quilting for the benefit of charitable causes.”

Thirty-two San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo’s Ambassador Committee members paid a visit to Blanco Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, to visit the area and have lunch at Old 300 BBQ, 318 Fourth St.
The group, which meets to get out and promote the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, tours two to three cities within 65-70 miles of San Antonio to hang up posters and promote the event.
“We love coming through Blanco on our way to the Blanco Youth Stock Show,” Jackie Pryor, committee chair said.

Blanco Edges Past JC 90-81 in OT
The Blanco Panthers won an exciting overtime clash against the Johnson City Eagles Friday, Jan 5, 2018, played at home. Blanco led 44-35 at the end of the first half, but the game ended at regulation time tied 76-76. The Panthers outscored the Eagles 14-5 in overtime to take the win 90-81.
The Panthers have a 16-7 overall record and a 2-0 district record.
Senior Nick Sampeck led the team statistically ripping the net with 47 points.
The Blanco Lady Panthers defeated the Johnson City Lady Eagles 56-38 on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, in an exciting home match-up.
The Panthers improved their overall record to 16-8 and their district record to 4-0.
Senior Kendall Brock led the team with 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks.

have always been a little envious of my poet brother, JayR. He has a knack for putting mundane family things into verse in such a way that his words get copied and put into family files for posterity to ponder. I, on the other hand, don’t seem to have a poetic bone in my aged old body.
Perhaps I could wax poetic if I adopted the literary style of Ogden Nash (1902-1971) who was the favorite poet of my youth.

In our desire to please God we must discern between good and evil. Evil has not always existed, but good has always existed, for God is eternal and He is good. It is a falsehood to believe that good cannot exist without evil. Good existed before evil and only good will exist after the destruction of the devil and his works, but certainly today there is a present spiritual battle between good and evil.
Let us consider seven questions to ask in discerning between good and evil.
