Genetic disorders are far more common in isolated remote communities than in places where there is frequent genetic exchange with outsiders. The vast, sparsely populated Beni region of north and northeast Bolivia, stretching between the Andean mountains and the Amazon basin, is an extreme example of where small towns are separated by days or weeks of arduous travel on foot or on rivers through dense subtropical forest.
The Blanco Police Department is launching a Blanco Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC), according to Chief Mike Ritchey. “BRIC is a collaborative effort of multiple Public Safety Agencies in the surrounding counties,” Chief Ritchey said. “BRIC partner agencies will work together to provide resources, expertise and/or information to the center and will focus on regional public safety data analysis.” The mission of BRIC is to better protect the public by providing a centralized, com ...
The class of 1959 held its 60th class reunion on April 13th in the fellowship hall of the Methodist Church. A delicious BBQ meal was catered by The Old 300 BBQ Special guests were Ada Cooley and Florine Lord, the class’s original room mothers (pictured below). Counting spouses and a son and a granddaughter, there was a total of 19 in attendance.
