Members of the Blanco American Legion Memorial Highway Post 352 welcomed the “American Legion Riders” as they made their way to Blanco as part of the American Legion Centennial Celebration ride on U.S. Hwy. 281 from Pharr, Texas to celebrate the Legion’s 100th birthday. About 20 riders and support team vehicles arrived at the Blanco American Legion Post 352 at 5:30 p.m..
PEC lineworkers prepare rigorously for the rodeo and do whatever it takes to get a leg up on the competition. “These guys train hard and expect to win,” said Safety and Program Development Manager Darrell Hall. “That’s the attitude for PEC at this event.” PEC’s apprentices had an outstanding showing, sweeping several events and coming away with the top three awards in the overall category.
By Daniella Winkle, child actor and filmmaker I am a 10-year-old Kansas native and on August 2nd - 4th I went to Filmmaking Summer Camp for Kids with Texas Made Films at the Buggy Barn Museum where the Pine Moore Old West Studio is located. I’m already planning to make my first film! The first thing that comes to mind when remembering my experience during that weekend is when I got to use the doorway dolly.
Ruby Lee Knoll Karen went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2019 at her home in Angleton, Texas. Ruby was born to Alvin and Tillie Knoll on May 20, 1942 in Blanco, Texas. Ruby was the fifth child of eight. The Knoll family resided in Blanco, Texas, where she graduated from Blanco High School in 1960. Ruby married Jimmy Handberry and had three children, Rhonda Hopper, Troy Handberry and Randall Handberry.
Michael Leigh Clark died on the morning of Wednesday July 31, 2019 in San Antonio. Michael was born in Houston, Texas on May 6, 1961 to John Leigh Clark, III and Muriel Stackhouse Clark. He is preceded in death by his father and his brother John Howard Clark. Michael is survived by his mother, his sisters Muriel “ReeRee” Clark Friedman (Jay), Laura Clark Weiss (Fritz), and Amy Clark Tomkins (Jeff), and his nieces and nephews who adored him.
