The new proposed zoning map for the City of Blanco is headed to the city council. The city’s planning and zoning commission approved changes to the Blanco proposed zoning map after a public hearing held Thursday evening. The changes are now in the hands of the city council, which must approve any changes to the current zoning map.
The City of Blanco is poised for potential growth after passing a resolution earlier this month delineating its policy regarding municipal utility districts, or MUDs. The city currently is not part of a MUD. “The city was approached by a developer with plans to establish a MUD to support the needed infrastructure of a large proposed development south of Blanco,” said Councilwoman Connie Barron, on Tuesday.
ducation Foundation hosted a banquet for the Top Ten academic seniors from Blanco High School. Each student selected and honored a teacher who most impacted their path to academic excellence. The evening was considered “first class” by all. The Carriage Hills Venue was appropriately decorated with Blanco colors: blue and gold.
The Blanco City Council passed a Resolution in December, 2009 that created the Blanco Streetscape Committee. In January 2010, the committee held the first meeting with ten committee members, chaired by two Blanco Historic Commission members. From that time the committee held monthly meetings until Mayor Bruce Peele put the program on hold in 2017. The first goal was to find an urban planner.
The Blanco 12U baseball teams is headed to the zone tournament. The team will play at zone at Deer Park near Houston on July 20. They finished second in the regional tournament last weekend.
Diane Louise Stidhem went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday June 24, 2021 at the age of 74. She was born Aug. 19, 1946 in San Antonio, to Hubert and Verna “Millie” Lumpkin. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and sister, JoAnn Urguhart. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Elroy Stidhem; their two children, Lesha Betts and husband Michael and Cory Stidhem and wife Rania; stepdaughter, Sharon Kerr and husband David; brother, Larry Lumpkin and wife JoAnn; grandd ...
James F. Watson from Blanco passed away on June 13,2021 after a long illness. He was 78. James was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas when he was 7 years old. He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1961. James showed an early talent for music during his school years, learning to play the violin, guitar and piano.
