Celebrate the new year all weekend long in Concan.
December 28-31 The Golf Club of Texas at Concan will be home base for four days and nights of fun-filled activities for the whole family. Each year, volunteers work countless hours preparing for one of the Texas Hill Country’s most delightful lighted Christmas parks, located in the heart of the Deer Capital of the World, Llano. This year, despite heavy flooding, the Starry Starry Nights crew created a wonderland of spectacular lights and beautiful displays. YES……. Llano will have our Starry Starry Nights Lighted Christmas Park again this year! That has been one of the questions asked after the severe flooding and damage to Badu Park along the Llano River. Our Lighted Christmas Park will open on November 23 at 6 pm the day after Thanksgiving, and will be open every evening from 6-9 pm until New Year’s Eve.

The new features will allow visitors to reserve a specific campsite, buy day passes in advance and buy or renew a Texas State Parks Pass online. The Guadalupe River is arguably one of the best known rivers in Texas. In 1964, the Army Corps of Engineers recognized the need to dam up the Guadalupe River about 12 miles west of New Braunfels, TX to stop the severe flash flooding issues. They created a water reservoir which is now known as Canyon Lake.
BURNET-- Enjoy two days of cultural exhibits, weapons demonstrations and Native American dances at the Hill Country Heritage Expo hosted by Inks Lake State Park. The event is free to the public with park entry fees and runs Oct. 5-6. The fun is kicking off Friday with a teepee talk interpretive event at 6 p.m., then visitors can groove into the weekend at a historical dance from 7:30 p.m.- 9 p.m. Saturday’s festivities begin at 10 a.m.
