In 2014, there were more than 3 million child abuse cases reported in the U.S. and with more than 65,000 in Texas alone. The Blanco County Sheriff's Office recently issued a press release advising the identification of two suspects in a string of recent thefts of United States Mail. Cody Calder, 22 of Blanco, was arrested on February 6, 2015 on an outstanding warrant by Blanco Police. The arrest warrant was obtained by Blanco County Sheriff's Investigator, Sgt.

Blanco County Sheriff's Office reports that between March 17 and March 23, 2015 there were 85 calls for service, 24 traffic stops and seven arrests. Of the arrests, there were three drug related, two "Out of County" warrants including Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and Theft of $500-$1,500. Barbara Wilson called the meeting to order and 18 members answered roll call by telling something nice that happened to them this week. We had 2 guests, Ashlyn Wilson and Courtney Buroughs. Sabinal came to town under threats of rain but soon found out their only threat was the Lady Eagles of Johnson City. Emily Matjeka took the mound for the Lady Eagles allowing only one run with 12 strikeouts. The Lady Eagles broke in their new field with Skylar McKennis hitting a Grand Slam in the first inning brining the score 4 to 0.
Over the Spring Break holiday, the Eagles competed in the first annual Blanco County Tournament, and finished with three wins and two losses. They began district play, defeating Ozona and Mason to achieve a 2-0 record to start out district competition. The Eagles opened up the tournament against Jarrell and defeated the Cougars 6-2.
The HS Eagles Tennis Team competed Thursday in The Fredericksburg Hill Country Championships tournament with 14 area schools represented. Jesus Zavala encountered stout competition and finished with no wins and 2 loses. Sadie Broussard and Drew Taylor faced some of the area's finest and finished with one victory and 2 loses in mixed doubles. The Blanco County 4-H Jr Horse Judging Team and the Johnson City FFA Horse Judging Team started spring break by attending the Houston Horse Judging Contest in Katy Texas on March 9, 2015. This contest is one of the largest contest in the nation with over 750 contestants this year. Our kids did an amazing job this year representing Blanco County 4H and Johnson City FFA.
