The Hill Country Science Mill, a regional science center in Johnson City, TX, will host a special “Call of the Wild” Nature Day on April 16. The Highland Lakes Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist will be at the Science Mill from 10am to 3pm with special hands-on science activities for all ages.

The Johnson City Lady Eagles competed In the District Track and Field meet last Thursday in Harper and finished 6th overall. The Lady Eagles advanced to Area in 7 events.
The Area Meet will be this Saturday in Flatonia.
Kayli Trahan continued to lead the Lady Eagles, advancing in 4 events. Kayli won Bronze in the Long Jump and the 400 Meters, then placed 4th in the Triple Jump and in the 4X200 Relay.
The Johnson City Lady Eagles have found out that the road to the playoffs can become very difficult when you start the second round of district play. The Lady Eagles went 1-2 last week in district play, leaving them at 5-4 in district play and a game against a very tough Sabinal Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles traveled to Medina Friday evening and came out with an 18-5 victory.
The Johnson City Eagles traveled to Ozona Friday night and handed the Lions a 8-2 defeat. Johnson City jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after 2 innings. The Eagles added another two runs in the top of the fourth, but Ozona answered with 2 runs of their own, leaving the score Eagles 7 Lions 2.
Congratulations to a very successful turnout from the Johnson City Academic contestants who competed at the District level meet last week. Students advancing from Regionals to State will have the opportunity for $2000 TILF scholarships. Individual Awards and Team Awards listed below:

Saturday April 16th, 2016, 10:30 A.M.-11:30 A.M., Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site is offering a “Guided Nature and Wildlife Tour and Walk”. TPWD Park Ranger, Paul Hendrix will be leading the nature walk at the park that day to share nature’s many wonders with the public.
Visitors are encouraged to plan for the morning outing and to bring the family to experience the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

This Saturday April 16th the Pleasant Valley - Rocky Creek Community Club will be hosting the second annual Archer's Cup archery contest. Archers will begin shooting at 7AM and can arrive anytime before 1PM.
Prize money includes $500 for the course champion and $500 for the distance bullseye. Entry fee is $20 and shooters can enter up to 3 times logging their best score.

The regular monthly officers & Board business meeting of North Blanco County Emergency Medical Services (NBCEMS) was held on Monday at the EMS station. All officers were present. After business was concluded, April birthdays were celebrated with cake & ice cream.

Blanco County Master Gardeners will present their annual plant sale on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park in Johnson City. The park is located at the corner of US 290 and Avenue G.

The Johnson City track team did something that had not been done since the Nixon administration, the Eagles won the Track District Championship.
The Eagles took a 2 point lead into the final race and ran a mile relay race that will be remembered for a long time. Morgan Lindsey and Sylvester Quinonez ran the first 2 legs and kept the race very close, then Brett Harris took the baton and ran an amazing leg giving the Eagles the lead.
The Johnson City ISD is asking parents with children preparing for Kindergarten to attend the Kindergarten Round-Up on Wednesday, April 20 from 4:30-6:00 pm at the LBJ Elementary School.
