Before opening the Johnson City School Board meeting, a public hearing was held for a presentation on the district’s 2016-2017 annual performance report. Johnson City departed for Lago Vista Friday to battle the Vikings. Three wins made the return voyage a joyous one, as JV-B won 55 to 18, the JV A-Team won 38 to 33, and the Varsity won 61 to 55. The Varsity Boys came out flying, scoring seven unanswered points by the time Lago got their first basket.

We will be providing a GriefShare Program starting Tuesday March 6 at 6:30 p.m. We will meet at the First United Methodist Church in the Activity Center in Johnson City. GriefShare is a program to help people who are grieving from the loss of a loved one. It helps heal and gives hope to the grieving person.

Gem of the Hills Senior Citizens Community Center (GOTH) is planning its first fundraiser since its founding in 1984. The Board of Directors and volunteers of Gem of the Hills invite the community to “Indie Film Nite” in Blanco Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. GOTH is partnering with Hill Country Film Society (HCFS) to offer a slate of Film Shorts in Blanco.
The emergency room doors banged open and a father, closely followed by his sixteen year-old son, ran through cradling the unconscious form of his eight year-old boy. The ER personnel responded quickly and whisked the boy away into the bowels of the big hospital leaving the two to pace back and forth in the waiting area. The boys had left Mom at home to go on a weekend outing with their Dad to do some camping and fishing and to just spend some quality time together in the great out-of-doors.
