The University Interscholastic League's (UIL) release of the biennial realignment on Monday for Basketball, Football and Volleyball was somewhat anticlimactic for the Johnson City Eagles as the big news - their drop from Conference 3A to 2A - was released in December. That news meant the Eagles would shift from one of the schools with the smallest enrollment in their classification to one close to the largest.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles had an open date last Tuesday due to the odd number of teams competing in Basketball in District 25-3A, but returned to action Friday on the road at Jarrell. The JV Lady Cougars opened the evening by exacting revenge on the Lady Eagle JV for their first-round loss in overtime in JC.

Abraham Lincoln’s best known proclamation is the “Emancipation Proclamation” (January 1, 1863). Three months after that famous proclamation, March 30, 1863, he issued another, remarkable in its own right though lesser known—for a national day of fasting. In fact, it was the second such proclamation, the first having been issued August 12, 1861, after a joint request from both houses of Congress, and the latter in response to a Senate resolution.
