Governor Greg Abbott’s mask mandate reversal will go into effect today, March 10, but people in Blanco County might not see many changes, according to a county official.
The governor’s executive order, GA-34, which was announced on March 2, allows folks to decide whether to wear a mask and allows businesses to open at full capacity.

FYE 2018 Audit
After a brief discussion of the FYE 2018 Annual Financial Report for the City of Johnson City prepared by Neffendorf & Knopp, P.C., council members approved the report with motion from Council member Shelton Coleman.
In an area declared a disaster area by the Governor, Tax Code Section 11.35 allows a qualified property that is at least 15 percent damaged by a disaster to receive a temporary exemption of a portion of the appraised value of the property. A property owner must apply for the temporary exemption and the deadline for application is 105 days after the governor declares a disaster area.
Blanco Performing Arts presents a Young Artist’s recital to warm your hearts. Spring Break is a great time to keep kids active, and Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center’s week-long Spring Break Day Camp aims to do just that.
Coinciding with the school Spring Break schedule, the camp will be from March 15 through March 19. Children age five to 12 can sign up for all five days of the camp or they can register for single days.

Mask mandate ends March 10; many entities to continue requiring them
While Gov. Gregg Abbott has lifted the statewide mandate to wear a mask in public and allowed all businesses to operate at full capacity, many businesses, schools and other entities say they will continue to require that masks be worn.

The LBJ Art students participated in the nation-wide Scholastic Art Competition for the Southwest Region. This competition is the longest running, and arguably most prestigious, recognition program for creative teens and is evaluated in twenty-eight categories. LBJHS students entries were adjudicated by some of the foremost leaders in the visual arts against more than 300,000 students.
The LBJMS Track teams shook off the effects of the delayed start to their season and scored in a big way at the Lago Vista Invitational highlighted by Team Championship titles in the 8th Grade Girls and Boys Divisions. The Lady Eagles topped the host Lady Vikings 232 to 193 to win the ith Grade Girls Championship.

Joseph Calvin Blake, 79, passed away peacefully at LBJ Medical Center in Johnson City, Texas on Monday, February 22, 2021. He was born in Jonesboro, Louisiana on November 3,1941. He graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in 1959 and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech in 1964. Joe married the love of his life, Sherry McConathy, in Jonesboro in 1963.
