JV still undefeated in District play
Senior Blake Jenkins torched Mason with 13 points in the first quarter last Tuesday and the Eagles cruised to 3-0 in district with a 79-38 victory against the visiting Mason Punchers. JC raced to a 17-7 first quarter lead and extended it to 32-13 by halftime. Mason Roberts contributed 15 points, Brinley Portie added 11 and Colin Linsey chipped in  8 going 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Micaela McDonald has officially begun her work as the Library Director of the Johnson City Library. She replaces Maggie Goodman who retired in December. McDonald was promoted from the position of library assistant that is now occupied by Miranda Vega. McDonald has been employed at the library since 2019 as an assistant librarian.
As Blanco County officials are laying the groundwork for the arrival of one of the approved COVID-19 vaccines, countywide case statistics show that the virus is not letting up. As of Jan. 3, the county has 313 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, including five deaths, according to Blanco County Emergency Management. The 82nd Blanco County 4-H and FFA Youth Show begins Wednesday, January 13th at the Blanco County Show Barn in Johnson City. This year there are more than 390 entries. These leaders of tomorrow put in many hours, and oftentimes, a lot of their hard-earned money working towards a successful project and show. They invite you to attend the three-day show, and also show your support at the sale on Saturday the 16th. Wednesday, January 13 the show will begin at 4:30 p.m.
JCVFD Vice President Kemp Elliott called the regular business meeting of JCVFD to order at 6:03 p.m. on December 30 and a quorum was established. Those present included President Ray Bible via teleconference, and Whitney Liesmann, Sam Richardson, Orlando Ibanez, Chris Welch, Kemp Elliott, Jed Felps, Aaron Luedtke, and Penny Whisenant attending in person.
Although it was their Winter Break, students with the First United Methodist Church youth group spent the day clearing debris for local residents, Bill and Janey Wiemers of Stonewall.  Students are hard at work earning money towards their June 2021 youth group mission trip to Alaska.
His wife had just returned from a long stay in the hospital and rehab, and could no longer get up and down the steps to their house on her own.  In fact, he was taking it pretty slowly these days, himself.  A ramp to replace their steps was what they needed, but that was waaayyy out of his budget.

Shortly before noon on Monday, an accident on HWY 281 N heading into Johnson City slowed traffic into one single lane at 281 and Stanton Road. An RV rolled over and left the right side of the road strewn with debris. JCVFD, BCEMS, JCPD and the Blanco County Sheriff’s were among those who provided assistance at the scene.
