Astronomers to present a program on the Winter Milky Way The Hill Country Astronomers (HCA) will meet at 6:30 PM, Monday, March 6, at Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg. Mark Ward, club vice president, will present a program on the winter Milky Way. HCA’s members live in Central Texas. Some members are experienced and accomplished astronomers, while others are beginners.
Drivers traveling on US 290 West will have to slow down. The speed limit between Stonewall and Fredericksburg has been reduced from 70 to 60 miles per hour. On January 26, TxDOT announced that the Texas Transportation Commission voted to approve the reduced speed limit the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) proposed. The Blanco County Appraisal District held a special meeting on January 24,2017. The bulk of the meeting was a discussion on the recent surge in Public Information Requests. The Board of Directors also voted to raise the County Appraiser’s salary and took recommendations on additional Appraisal Review Board members. Appraiser Salary The Board voted to approve a transfer of $5,000 from the Deputy Chief Appraiser funds to the Chief Appraiser salary.

HCM welcomes doctor of podiatric medicine In January, Hill Country Memorial Medical Group welcomed physician Bryce Karulak, DPM, a board-certified doctor of podiatric medicine. He is now scheduling adult and pediatric patient appointments at the HCM medical clinics in Fredericksburg and Boerne. Karulak provides medical care for patients with diseases and disorders affecting the feet.
