An upcoming short film will have some local icons featured. “Cotton,” a short film project by Producer and Director, Tyler Russell, used Johnson City Police Cars and Odiorne Feed Store hats in the production filmed on a Cypress Mill ranch.
The film follows Sheriff Cotton, a small-town Texas Sheriff played by George Hardy and the hot-headed but good hearted Deputy Shanks, played by Judd Lormand.
“I’m kinda the peacekeeper.” Says Hardy about his character.
Heart health and sleep presentation June 6
Hill Country Memorial will host “Healthy Sleep-Rested Heart,” a free heart health presentation at the Westside Park Community Hall on Tues., June 6.
A complimentary lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m. followed by a presentation on the connection between sleep disorders and heart health.
The presentation includes a question-and-answer session with HCM sleep technologist Theresa Cochran and cardiac rehabilitation nurse Patsy Glasscock.
Commissioners held their regular Court Session on Tuesday, May 9. In the meeting, it was announced that City of Blanco paid their fees for County Dispatch Services; Commissioners approved a lease of the Old Blanco County Jail; and the contract from Fromberg Associates LTD was approved for construction of the South County Annex.

In an informational agenda item, Judge Bray announced that City of Blanco paid in full their dues to Blanco County for use of Dispatch Services.
The Hill Country Science Mill will be able to build a Creekside Monitoring Station interactive exhibit thanks to a $25,000 community development grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Pedernales Electric Cooperative.

Linda Haddock announced the purchase of the property at 100 N. Nugent Ave, the historic Cox Brothers Ford dealership dating to the 1920’s. The property currently houses Echo Gallery and Studio Massaro. The Blanco County Appraisal District is informing residents that they will see an increase in appraisal rates this year.
Chief Appraiser Candice Fry said individuals soon should receive an appraisal notice from the Blanco County Appraisal District, and that all residential structures will see an increase of at least 5 percent this year due to the rising market value of the properties.
Information states that there will also be additional adjustments to certain areas and property types.
